Do you provide care for or look after an adult? If so, we want to hear from you. The Newcastle Carers Udecide project has £50,000 to spend to improve the quality of life for Newcastle’s carers. We want to find out:
(1) What would make your caring role easier?
(2) How would you like to be more involved in your community?
Add your ideas to the discussion below or contact the Udecide team directly – the contact details are in the Contact Udecide page.
Hi Udecide
How will you use any feedback/ideas from this forum? What other methods of consultation are you using to gain feedback from carers?
I would like to see the money used to set up a ‘House Buddy Scheme’. Carers need respite provision for their relatives. They need to know it is safe and that they can access reguarly, even day to day. We know there is not enough of this. We also know that the provision is ad hoc. Not all carers or the person they care for wants to attend day centres or pray they get a week’s holiday somewhere they don’t really want to go.
Some of the money could be used to develop the idea/scheme and to carry out consultation with carers about the scheme. Monies would also be needed to consult with other organisations through partnership working if the scheme/idea had any mileage.
