Reflections #GameStars workshops at City Library

Young gamers can join computer game developers from Ubisoft Reflections for a fun afternoon of workshops at Newcastle City Library. Plus, if you’re a teenager thinking about a career in computer games, hear about the different jobs in the games industry in a talk by Reflections staff.
All activities are free but some must be booked in advance. There are a range of activities, suitable for ages 8 – 18.
Talk: Careers in Computer Games

Thinking of making computer games for a living? Game developers from the Newcastle based Ubisoft Reflections studio will explain the different roles within the computer game industry. Find out how a team of developers works together to create a successful computer game. The talk lasts approximately 1 hour, suitable for all ages who may be considering a career in the game industry.

Workshop: Lego Level Design
Sessions starting at : 12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm (book in advance)
Use Lego building blocks to discover the theory behind creating a computer game level. Design and build the map then decide where to put the bad guys! Suitable for ages 8 – 16. Must be booked in advance as places are limited. Book by phoning 0191 2774100 or emailing email@example.com.
Workshop: Games Programming Made Simple
Even complete beginners can have a go at making simple games using the Scratch and Blockly programming software. Suitable for all ages from 8 – 18. For teenagers with more advanced computer skills there is the opportunity to try out Unity 3D game engine software. Drop in any time, but spaces may be limited.

Create, experiment and play your own exciting motocross levels in Trials Evolution with the support of a Reflections Level Designer. Suitable for ages 12 – 16. Drop in any time, but spaces may be limited.
