Library events for NE1′s Newcastle Fashion Week 2012

After a successful programme of events at Newcastle Libraries last year, join us again to help celebrate NE1′s Newcastle Fashion Week in style. From Saturday 26 May – Sunday 3 June 2012 venues across the city will take part in fringe events and promotions which will showcase the popularity of fashion in Newcastle upon Tyne.

A selection of vintage costumes belonging to the Progressive Players, the resident company at Gateshead’s Little Theatre, will be on display on level 3 of City Library.

The wooden fashion display

Prepare to be amazed at the unique sculptures crafted by Tom Newstead, a local artist. Tom creates works of art from wood remnants and chippings, his amazing collection of sculptured fashion items have to be seen to be believed.
The Suit Amnesty

As part of NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week, we have teamed up with The Suit Amnesty to help tackle homelessness and unemployment while giving your wardrobe a bit of breathing space.
We are calling for your unwanted suits – whether they are too small after the post-Easter indulgence or victims of the annual spring clean – to be re-gifted to homeless and disadvantaged job seekers through local charity, The Cyrenians.
Drop-off your suits at City Library between 26 May and 3 June.
