We’re giving a digital hour at Newcastle Monument

On Tuesday 31 July from 1pm – 2pm volunteers from Newcastle Libraries and our partner organisations will be at Monument giving up a digital hour to help members of the public get online. The volunteers will be armed with mobile phones, laptops and digital cameras in order to encourage people to have a go!

The digital hour, in association with the BBC and the Give an Hour campaign, will also celebrate the summer of sport that the country and Newcastle are currently enjoying. We will encourage people to go online to find out about their favourite Olympic sports and athletes and explain how to watch Olympic events online.

You can follow the events on twitter using the hashtag #digitalhour for everything that is happening in Newcastle. Why don’t you give up a digital hour to help someone you know get online?

This event is part of a larger digital inclusion campaign that Newcastle City Council has been running through Newcastle Libraries. Ask at your local library about taking part in a free internet taster session or for more information phone 0191 2774100.

Don’t forget to pledge your support to get Superfast broadband across Newcastle. I want faster broadband.
